Our Purpose
The Georgetown-Quitman County Office of Elections and Registration’s purpose is to ensure fair, accurate, and accessible voter registration by administering election laws with integrity, maintaining up-to-date voter records, and providing clear nonpartisan assistance so every eligible citizen has the opportunity to register and participate in the democratic process.

Secure the Vote: Serve as a Poll Worker
Before each statewide election, thousands of Georgians sign up to help put on the single most important event we hold in a democracy. We’ve included a few tips throughout the template to help you get started.
What does a Poll Worker do?
A Poll Worker…
- Sets up and closes a polling place
- Helps voters understand their rights
- Protects ballots and voting equipment
A poll worker must…
- Be a citizen of the United States and a resident of that county.
- Be at least 16 years of age.
- Be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
- Not hold public office or be a candidate for public office.
- Be able to solve problems.
- Be an effective communicator.
- Not be an immediate relative of an elected official where the relative is a candidate.

The Quitman County Board of Elections and Voter Registration functions as the superintendent of elections and conducts primaries and elections in accordance with State law. The Board performs all services and functions necessary to support the election process, recruits, selects, hires, trains and assigns personnel to serve as poll officials. The board also conducts qualification for candidates, develops ballots for elections, acquires, maintains, prepares and test equipment used to conduct elections.
We are responsible for voter registration; ensuring that elections are free, impartial, fair, accurate, convenient and accessible to all voters; encourages voter participation; provides excellent customer service to voters, candidates, and the media; and to help the public understand and follow all laws, rules and regulations.
