Georgetown-Quitman County Volunteer Fire Department

The Georgetown-Quitman County Fire Department is a volunteer fire department that provides fire and rescue services to the residents of Quitman County, Georgia.

The department is funded by the Georgetown-Quitman County Board of Commissioners.

The department service area includes Georgetown and Morris. Quitman County is 161 square miles.

Today, volunteers make up most of the nation’s fire service.  Approximately half of the U.S. population is served by Volunteer Firefighters and First Responders.  Many of our volunteers consider volunteerism a great honor and a way to serve their county's citizens.

Volunteer fire departments aren’t just about fighting fires. It is about going out during storms with chainsaws, responding to car wrecks, assisting first responders, helping wherever needed — that’s the heart of what a volunteer department truly is: They are the backbone of the community in emergencies.
